MSLS Part 4 – Tengku Razaleigh’s TED Worthy Speech and Other Stories

Tengku Razaleigh is the Former Minister of Finance, now Member of Parliament of Gua Musang. His officiating address made it worth waking up in the wee hours of the morning to catch the early morning train to KL, in time for his speech. On the other hand, our current Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mustapa Mohamed never failed to make me laugh with his underhanded statement of the ‘Palace’ as I played the video clip over and over again.

Mustapa Mohamed Stumbles Over the Palace.

On the brighter side, there was the Young Talents: ‘Reaching for the Unconventional Dream’ session which I found very inspiring. The invited speakers were Timothy Tiah; Executive Director of Nuffnang, Jason Lo; CEO of Tune Talk, and Juana Jaafar; Perdana Global Peace Organisations. Some of the quotes I jotted down were:

Ignorance is the end of Ideas

Find Sanctuary in Buffet

-Jason Lo-

In Malaysia, it is more common to see heroes in men

-Juana Jaafar-

I couldn’t remember word by word what Timothy Tiah said, but what struck me was the fact that he didn’t knew what he was going to do after graduation, as a university student. He mentioned that, unlike the rest of his peers, who had ambitions or career paths set for them, he had no idea about his own. Somehow, he found epiphany whilst observing the internet obsessed teenage culture and discovered how he could create something out of it, and poof! Nuffnang was born! Ok, it wasn’t that easy-lah, but that was easy to remember for me.

Til the next post, Au Revoir!
